Katherine Elizabeth Nowlin and Christopher Anthony Akin

Mr. and Mrs. Wade Taylor Nowlin, junior Betsy and Wade Nowlin of Dallas, Texas are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Nowlin, to Christopher Anthony Akin, son of Major and Mrs. Robert Allen Akin, USMC Retd. of Keller, Texas.
Miss Nowlin is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wade T. Nowlin Sr. of Ft. Worth, Texas, the late Ms. Judith S. Nowlin of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Mr. William H. Ringold and the late Mrs. William H. Ringold of Apple Valley Minnesota.
Mr. Akin is the grandson of the late Mr. Raymond F. Akin of Tupelo, Mississippi, Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. Knighton Sr. of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Mr. and Mrs. Mario C. Vasquez of Mesa, Arizona.
The bride to be is a 2012 graduate of Highland Park High School and a 2016 graduate from Texas A&M University. She received her Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with certifications in Early Childhood-6th grade education and English as a Second Language. While at Texas A&M University, she was the president of Pi Beta Phi sorority and participated in student government. Katherine is currently employed as a 3rd grade interventionist in Bryan, TX.
The groom to be graduated from Ft. Worth Christian School in 2013 and will graduate from Texas A&M University in May of 2017. During his time at Texas A&M, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and was placed in several leadership positions including 2nd Regiment Sergeant Major and 2nd Regiment Commander. Following graduation in May, Christopher plans to commission as an officer into the United States Marine Corps. He will begin his Marine Corps career with The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia.
Miss Katherine Nowlin and Mr. Christopher Akin will exchange vows on June 4, 2017 in Laguna Niguel, CA surrounded by close family and friends with a reception to follow. The couple will take up residence in Quantico, Virginia to begin their marriage.
