YOUNG, WEST EXCHANGE WEDDING VOWS AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Anna Laura Young and Haden Lowry West were married on July 23, 2016. The Reverend David T. A. Strain and the Reverend David Thomas Irving performed the evening ceremony at the First
Presbyterian Church of Jackson. A reception followed at the Old Capitol Inn in downtown Jackson with music presented by the Memphis Icebreakers.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson Young, III of Jackson. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Rhorer Peaster, III of Yazoo City and Mrs. Mary Lou Young of Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson Young, Jr. of Ocean Springs. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Peter Lowry West of Belden. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle Steve Hester of Belden and Mrs. Harry West and the late Mr. Harry West of Belden.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s Emmaline designer wedding dress was a Charmeuse with swiss dot tulle overlay, beaded embellished applique’, and sweetheart bodice. Her chapel length train was delicately trimmed with a scalloped lace hem, and her cathedral length veil of handmade Belgian lace was given to her by a dear friend of the groom’s family.
The bride’s bouquet was a collection of all white peony, tulips, and garden and spray roses with Stephanotis flowers tucked inside. The bouquet was hand-wrapped with a Belgian lace handkerchief given to her by the friend of the groom who also gave the veil.
Guests enjoyed music before and during the ceremony performed by Organist William Wymond, Cellist John Sinclair and Violinist Elisabeth Sinclair.
Serving as maids of honor were Karol Jordan Conaway and Emily Clark McLaurin, both of Jackson. Bridesmaids were Victoria Augusta Cannon of Jackson, Margaret Lee Jones of Jackson, Virginia Broyles Lamb of Shreveport, LA, Michelle Herold McIntyre of Ruston, LA, Casey Jenkins Sanford of Alexandria, VA, Barbara Smith Walker of Brookhaven, and Julieanne White Weldy of Washington, D.C. They wore blush-colored floor length chiffon gowns that featured a draped bodice with an off-the-shoulder sleeve. The attendants carried smaller versions of the bride’s
bouquet.
The bridegroom’s father, Peter Lowry West of Belden served as best man. Groomsmen were Stefan Sanders West and Noah Mansell West of Belden, brothers of the groom and John Henderson Young, IV and James Peaster Young of Jackson, brothers of the bride. Other groomsmen included William Ferris Brown of Jackson, Walton Carter Coleman of Valdosta, GA, William Arnot Geary, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Robert Todd Heinz of Dallas, TX, Bancroft Brooks Hieronymus of Mobile, AL, Edwin Poteat Lutkin, Jr of Jackson, Thomas Carnes Buford Threadgill, III of Memphis, TN, and William James Threadgill, III of Memphis, TN.
Program attendants were Claire Craig Crosland and Selah MaryMarie Roberts, cousins of the bride. The wedding director was Mrs. John Lowe Smith.
On the eve of the wedding the groom’s parents hosted friends and family for a dinner at the Country Club of Jackson.
On the day of the wedding the bride and her bridesmaids were honored with a brunch at the home of Mrs. Craig Crosland, aunt of the bride. The bride, her bridesmaids and family members were also honored with a bridesmaids’ luncheon on the Friday before the wedding at the home of Mrs. Bobby Dye. The luncheon was hosted by Mrs. Bobby Dye, Mrs. Kevin Connaway, Mrs. Stanley Mangum, Mrs. Steve Randolph and Mrs. Joe Uithoven.
The groom and his groomsmen were honored with a cookout at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Geary the day of the wedding.
The bride and groom reside in Jackson after a wedding trip to St. Lucia
