Elena McPherson and Ben Gilliland

Mr. and Mrs. Hal McPherson of Tupelo are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Elena Lee McPherson to Benjamin Robert Gilliland, son of Dr. and Mrs. David Gilliland, of Tupelo, Mississippi.

Elena is the granddaughter of Mr. Gerald McGill and the late Mrs. Rosemary McGill, and Mr. and Mrs. Weylan McPherson, all of Tupelo, Mississippi.

Ben is the grandson of Mrs. Jessie Ramage and the late Mr. Boyd H. Ramage of Hesterville, Mississippi, and Dr. Robert Gilliland and the late Mrs. Marian Frances Gilliland, of Kosciusko, Mississippi.

The bride-elect graduated from Tupelo High School in 2006 where she lead and participated in various activities including Wave Connection. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish where she was also a member of Delta Delta Delta. Elena continued at Ole Miss to pursue her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2011. The bride-elect has since been teaching English and coaching the dance team at Madison Central High School in Madison, Mississippi.

The prospective groom graduated from Tupelo High School in 2007 where he participated in various activities including football. He graduated Cum Laude from Mississippi State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a pre-med emphasis. Ben graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a Doctor of Medicine in May 2015.

The couple will soon relocate to Birmingham, Alabama, where Elena will teach Language Arts at Simmons Middle School, and Ben will complete his residency in family medicine at Saint Vincent’s Hospital East.

The couple will exchange vows at five o’clock in the afternoon on June 6, 2015, at Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. A reception will follow at The Antler, also in Tupelo. Friends and family are invited to attend.

Philip and Sallie Belle Howell of Tupelo announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Grayson Howell, to Lance Corporal Philip Michael Bailey, son of Paul and Holly Bailey of Blue Springs.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Rev. Glenn and Nell Panell Howell and the late Mary Howell of Magee and the late George and Kathy Trippe of Marks.

Miss Howell is a graduate of Tupelo High School. She currently attends Mississippi State University.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Philip and Joye Bailey of Tupelo and Mike and Sherry Moore of Blue Springs.

Mr. Bailey is a graduate of Tupelo High School. He is currently serving in the United States Marine Corp.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 4 p.m. at The Orchard United Methodist Church in Tupelo. The reception will be immediately following the service.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sammie Goodwin of New Albany and the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Murry of Cotton Plant.
The bride-elect is a 2009 graduate of New Albany High School. She attended Itawamba Community College where she served as a member of the 2009-2011 Lady Indians Soccer team. Jordan earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Delta State University and also served as a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and a cheerleader for the Delta Statesmen. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy K-12 at Blue Mountain College. Jordan is employed as a teacher at New Albany Elementary School.
The prospective groom is a 1999 graduate of W.P. Daniel High School. He graduated from Northeast Mississippi Community College where he received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Programming Technology. He is co-owner of TSA Embroidery LLC.
The couple will exchange vows at 6:00 in the evening, June 13 at First Baptist Church in New Albany, Mississippi. A reception will follow at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Dunnam. No invitations will be sent locally. All friends and family are invited to attend.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Wallace Earl Caldwell of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and the late Dr. W. E. Caldwell; the late Odell McCarthy Caldwell; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris Paul Haynes, senior, of Baldwyn.
Miss Haynes is a 2007 honor graduate of Baldwyn High School. She graduated in 2011 from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. While at Ole Miss, Molly was a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity, Associated Student Body Elections Commissioner, Deputy Attorney General of Elections and Senior Class Vice-President. She completed her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Memphis in 2013. Miss Haynes is currently a speech therapist at Corinth Elementary School.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. Robert Yager Fitzpatrick, senior, and the late Carolyn Dillard Fitzpatrick of Nashville, Tennessee, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weakley Wilson of Nashville.
Mr. Wilson is a 2007 graduate of John Overton Comprehensive High School in Brentwood. He is a 2011 graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. Rob was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society. He is a 2015 graduate of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and served as Articles Editor of the University of Memphis Law Review.
The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. at Paris-Yates Chapel on the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford with a reception to follow at the Oxford-University Club. All friends and family are invited to attend the ceremony and reception.

Miss Shumaker is a 2007 graduate of Jackson Academy. In 2011, she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Baylor University, and is currently a third year medical student at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Mr. Wynn is a 2005 graduate of Tupelo High School. In 2009, he received his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Mississippi, and in 2012, graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is currently an attorney for the Department of Human Services in Jackson.
The couple will exchange vows on the evening of June 13th at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Jackson.

The bride-elect works at Anderson Regional Medical Center where she is a sleep lab technologist and a registered electroencephalographic technologist.

The prospective groom graduated from Union High School in 2004. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 2008 where he was a member of Kappa Delta Pi. Mr. Mott is currently employed at Union Elementary School where he teaches fourth grade.

Miss Dupree is a graduate of Nettleton High School where she was named to the Hall of Fame, and a graduate of Itawamba Community College with an Associate degree in Nursing. College honors include being an Honors graduate, a MOSA member, and NCF member. She plans to begin pursuing her BSN next year at Mississippi University for Women. She is employed as an RN in the NICU at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Mr. Bramlett is a graduate of Nettleton High School where he was a member of the Beta Club, and a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration. College
honors include being a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Lambda. He is employed in Human Resources at JESCO.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Howard Phillips the 2nd of West Palm Beach, Florida and the late Rhonda Wilson of Saltillo, the late Melba Jean McCoy of Tupelo. The honoring grandparents are Dennis and Gwen Faggert of Saltillo.
Mr. Phillips is a graduate of Saltillo High School, and he attended Itawamba Community College of Tupelo for two years.

Miss Whitlock is presently employed as a teacher at Corinth Elementary School.

Mr. Parsons is a graduate of Tishomingo County High School, where he played and received awards for basketball. The bride-elect is a 2012 graduate of Pontotoc High School. She graduated in 2014 from Itawamba Community College where she received her AAS degree in Early Childhood Education. In the fall Amelia plans to attend Blue Mountain College to continue her education in Elementary Ed.The bride-elect is employed at Pontotoc City Schools where she is a 1st Grade Assistant.

The prospective groom attended Hatley High School in Hatley, Ms. He graduated from the Mississippi State Fire Academy in 2011.Charles was hired with the Verona Fire Department as a full-time firefighter. Later he was appointed Assistant Fire Chief. The prospective groom is the current Fire Chief of Verona Fire Department and also a part time firefighter for the City of Pontotoc.

The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Amory High School. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Education. She is a teacher at West Amory Elementary.
The prospective groom graduated from Amory Christian Academy in 2004. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Social Work. He is an Instructor at Ability Works in Tupelo.

Joni Renee Hill of Houlka and Brock Nelson Owings of Houlka were united in marriage on May 23,2015 , in a late morning ceremony surrounded by family and friends on the beach at Orange Beach, Alabama. Minister Larry Gordon of Houlka performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Brenda Watson of Pontotoc and Sue Hill and the late Johnny Hill of Pontotoc.The bride is the granddaughter of the late Juanita Roberts and the late Lavern McCool of Kosciusko. She is also the granddaughter of the late Julia Woodson and the late Ralph Hill of Pontotoc.

The groom is the son of Kathy and Greg Haynes of Houlka and Tommy Owings of Guntown. He is the grandson of Mary Evelyn Andrews and the late Royce Andrews of Houlka. He is also the grandson of the late Charlie and Ellouise Bishop of Nettleton.

Escorted by her son Jakub Hines, the bride wore a lovely white chiffon gown accented with lace across the shoulders.She carried a bouquet of purple hydrangeas and a white tiger lily.

The Matron of Honor was Erin Olivia Sauceda of Pontotoc. The bridesmaid was Laura Ellen Haynes sister in law of the groom of Mooreville. They wore short mint green strapless gowns and carried bouquets of purple hydrangeas.

Bryan Anderson of West Point was best man. The groomsman was the brother of the groom Brenan Haynes of Mooreville.
A reception followed at Shoalwater Condo in Orange Beach, Alabama where guests enjoyed a brunch prepared by the groom’s family and friends.

The couple resides in Houlka, where the bride works for Heritage Ob/Gyn in Tupelo and the groom works for Chickasaw County Regional Correctional Facility in Houston.

Johnna Moore and Marshall Faulkner

Johnna Rachel Moore of Saltillo and Marshall Lamar Faulkner of Woodland were united in marriage on May 6th, 2015, in a beach side ceremony at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. The bride is the daughter of Johnny and Kathy Moore of Saltillo. She is the granddaughter of the late Leonard and Helen Hinds of Tupelo and the late B.C. and Zella Moore of Belmont.
The groom is the son of Mark and Carol Faulkner of Woodland. He is the grandson of Kenneth and Rose Nichols and J. Hugh and Betty Lou Faulkner also of Woodland.
The couple reside in Saltillo, where the bride is a physical therapist assistant at Elite Therapy. And the groom manages Furniture Center in Tupelo and works part time at UPS

Mr. Glenn is a 2007 graduate of Saltillo High School and a 2014 graduate of the University of Mississippi where he earned his Doctorate degree in Pharmacy. He is currently employed as a Pharmacist with Kroger pharmacy in Corinth, MS.
The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Paris-Yates Chapel on the campus of the University of Mississippi at 11:00 AM.
They will make their home in Guntown, MS.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Grover and Ozell Brownlee of Calhoun City and James Gladney and the late Ruby Woodard of Calhoun City.
Jarvis is a graduate of Vardaman High School. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College. He is currently employed at Ashley Furniture in Ecru, MS.
The couple will exchange vows at The Link Centre on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 3 p.m. The Reception will follow in The Link Centre Reception Hall. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Kerry and Carrie Scott of Nettleton, MS are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Allison Taylor, to Christopher Ryan Culver, son of Terri Culver of Nettleton, MS and Ricky Culver of Eufaula, AL.

Miss Scott is the granddaughter of Terry and Kay Patterson of Nettleton, MS and the late Linda Moffat Adams of Becker, MS and Danny Scott of Gattman, MS.

Mr. Culver is the grandson of the late Judd “Soggy” and Nannie Ruth Presley of Nettleton, MS and the late Frank and Barbara Nell Culver of Columbus, MS.

The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Nettleton High School where she was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad, basketball and tennis teams. She was a member of the Hall of Fame and Beta Club. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2015 with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Societies and was on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll. Miss Scott will be teaching 1st grade at Hamilton Elementary School this fall.

The prospective groom graduated from Nettleton High School in 2009. Mr. Culver is currently employed at Homestretch Furniture in Nettleton where he is an Upholsterer.

The couple will exchange vows at 6:00 pm, July 18th at Southwind in Shannon, MS and the reception will follow. Friends and family are invited to attend.
