He received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Mississippi State University in 2014 and a Master’s of Professional Accountancy degree in May 2015. While at Ole Miss he served as an officer in the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, was a member of the University of Mississippi Army ROTC, and was involved in Campus Crusade for Christ. He received a Commission in the United States Army in 2012. Dr. Howell is the granddaughter of Mr. Edwin “Hank” Stanford of Tupelo and the late Mrs. Jerrie Stanford, and the late Mr. Robert “Bob” Howell of Amory and the late Ms. Dorris Howell of Tupelo.
Mr. Pridgen is the grandson of the late Mr. Charles Wells of Greenwood and Mrs. Annie Lou Wells, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Pridgen of Germantown, TN.
The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Tupelo High School where she was an honor student and a member of Soundwave. She graduated from The University of Mississippi in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She graduated Cum Laude and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She also graduated from The University of Memphis in 2015 with a Doctorate of Audiology Degree. The bride-elect will be employed at the Memphis VA Medical Center where she will practice as an Audiologist.
The prospective groom graduated from Pillow Academy in 2007. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Fisheries and Sciences. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and president of the MSU Ducks Unlimited Collegiate Chapter. Mr. Pridgen is currently employed at Ducks Unlimited where he is the Regional Director of North and Central Mississippi.
The couple will exchange vows at 6:00 p.m., September 5, 2015 in Gulf Shores, AL.
Brigid McCool and Derek Young
Brigid Ashling McCool and Derek BrantlyYoung of Tupelo were united in marriage on May 30, 2015, at the Goodlett Manor in Tupelo. Brother Chris O’Daniel officiated the late afternoon service, with a reception afterwards.
Brigid is the daughter of Malachy McCool and Eric and Lane Senter of Tupelo. Her grandmother, Joyce Senter of Peppertown was in attendance, while her deceased grandmothers,Virginia Gibson of Tupelo and Brigid MacCumhaill (McCool) of Dublin, Ireland, were honoured by a lit candle and their portraits throughout the festivities.
Derek is the son of Steve and Paula Young of Tupelo. His grandparents are Charles and Ann Young and Wesley and Norma Jordan, both of Columbus, Mississippi.
Accompanying Brigid at the alter were Shannon Shepherd and Layla Webb as maids of honour; bridesmaids were Penelope Dao, Kayleen Long, and Raven Young.
Brigid was escorted down the aisle by her father and stepfather, wearing a strapless silk empire wedding gown with a sequined bodice and a chiffon skirt with a chapel-length train.
Derek was accompanied by his best friends as groomsmen – Sam Sneed, Gary Beadles, Kyle Collins, Vincent Tran, and Bentley Burns.
Brigid is a 2013 graduate of Tupelo High School where she held high academic honours. She is presently a junior at Mississippi State University majoring in Chemical Engineering. She is employed with Starbucks in Starkville, Mississippi.
Derek has attended East Mississippi Community College and is employed by Kroger in Starkville.
After a honeymoon at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, the couple resides in Starkville, Mississippi.
